While I do not teach snowboarding myself, I work closely with my colleague Olivier Picone at the Bliss Snow School . Olivier specialises in intermediate level snowboarders and above and in Freeride and Freestyle. Olivier is French, and speaks really good English, is an excellent teacher and will look after the most demanding clients. As the Bliss Snow School is a new enterprise, Olivier is currently teaching beginners as well as experienced snowboarders. I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you are riding with Olivier he has an arrangement with Burton and one particular shop. For others, you can rent good equipment from Ski Extreme through the order form on the Easiski Specials page. Les Deux Alpes is very popular with snowboarders, largely because of the huge off piste domain and the many natural half-pipes and jumps all over the mountain. There is a large (and getting larger each year) snowpark at 2,600m with half-pipe and big air jumps. An area for slope style, and a boardercross track are also in the same area of 2,600m. There are suitable slopes for beginners, but I do not recommend novices to try the green run back into town which is a narrow path and very difficult on a board. Unless you are really competent on a board it's better to come down the last bit by lift. In the summer a huge portion of the glacier is turned over to the snowpark, with 2 half-pipes, jumps of every size and type (including a massive big air) lots of rails and so on for slope style training, all together with music and an excellent atmosphere. There are normally a number of pros training (very impressive to watch), and weekly competitions. |
